Directions to Site:
Pettisville is an unincorporated village in Fulton County located between Archbold and Wauseon. It is located about 35 miles west of Toledo. Although the mailing address is Pettisville, a GPS address for the turbine site would be 18827 County Road D Wauseon, OH 43567

The site is a 23 acre field that includes a geothermal pond, a stream running through the field, and a 200 space parking lot to the west. The lot serves as an event lot for the school across County Road D.
Estimated Annual Production:
1.2 million kWh per year
Estimated Utility Savings:
$80,000 plus. The wind turbine is projected to provide 153% of the electricity needed for the PK-12 school building.
Challenges/Lessons Learned:
Not enough space, time, or experience yet. Ask us in another year.

The turbine project is in conjunction with construction of a new 97,000 square foot PK-12 energy efficient school facility that opened in 2011. Aspects include daylighting in the high school, geothermal heating and cooling, and solar water heating to name a few. The goal is to become the first LEED Platinum PK-12 school facility in the state of Ohio.

Other Comments:
This project is not yet operational and the site is not overly suited for tours or visits. Individuals are welcomed to visit but may see a tower and nacelle without any blades and that is not yet in operation. The blades are scheduled for installation in late September but that schedule is subject to modification.

This project, although autonomous, was conducted in a partnership of Archbold Area Schools and Kenston Local Schools. Each district is constructing an identical 750 kW wind turbine on a school site. The projects are under the direction of The Renaissance Group and coordinated by AAron Godwin and Krystal Naylor.
