Building Ohio’s Renewable Energy Future
On May 5, 2012 at the Mound Advanced Technology Center at Miamisburg, Ohio, the 12th Annual Meeting of GEO attracted 75 attendees. Championing environmental and economic policies and practices for the past twelve years, Green Energy Ohio presented Building Ohio’s Renewable Energy Future featuring expert speakers on sustainable energy, GEO Annual Recognition Awards, 2011 GEO Annual Report, Lunch, and Trade Show. At this statewide networking opportunity, the featured presentation described Ohio's largest investment in 2011 - Iberdrola's Blue Creek Wind Farm (on GEO Magazine Cover Above). Charles Newcomb, Wind Technology Deployment Supervisor with Wind Powering America discussed key issues of utility-scale wind development and mitigation strategies by manufacturers and developers to minimize or avoid impact to the project area. Ben Hoen, from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), gave a summary of methods and results from the LBNL report; The Impact of Wind Power Projects on Residential Property Values in the United States: A Multi Site Hedonic Analysis.
GEO Wind Energy Workshop

Green Energy Ohio's Wind Energy Workshop covered wind energy topics across the State. Featured speakers included Jim O’Connor of Iberdrola Renewables who discussed the Blue Creek Wind Farm, Ohio's largest wind farm at 304 MW of installed capacity. Other topics include on-site wind energy generation, training opportunities in the wind energy industry, and incentives for the implementation of wind energy systems.
