Ohio State University's Student Chapter of American Solar Energy Society (ASES) will present a discussion of its Solar Education & Outreach progress within the last year. Topics include the Chapter’s installation of solar panels in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, off campus solar housing, and plans for a return trip to Haiti. Speaking will be Robert Breetz, a member of Solar Education & Outreach and an Electrical Engineering student at Ohio State. Also, recently appointed to the ASES Board of Directors, GEO Executive Director, Bill Spratley, will review the plans for the World Renewable Energy Forum where the ASES 2012 National Solar Conference will be combined in Denver, Colorado on May 13-17 with the bi-annual World Renewable Energy Congress. GEO Wind Energy Workshop

Join Green Energy Ohio for a Wind Energy Workshop covering wind energy topics across the State. Featured speakers include Jim O’Conner of Iberdrola Renewables who will discuss Blue Creek Wind Farm, Ohio's largest wind farm at 304 MW of installed capacity. Other topics include on-site wind energy generation, training opportunities in the wind energy industry, and incentives for the implementation of wind energy systems. The cost of the event is $35.00 ($28 for GEO members) to attend the full day, and $20.00 ($16.00 for GEO members) to attend half of the day. The GEO Workshop is held in conjunction with the March 20-22 Electro Expo 2012, a trade show and educational conference showcasing electrical, lighting, data communications, and green energy products and services. The exhibit hall features over 300 manufacturers displaying cutting-edge products and services and is free and open to the public. There will also be free and some fee-based educational seminars on topics like power, green technology, lighting, datacom and government incentives. See Expo details [CLICK HERE].

Launches New Energy Financing
The Energy Loan Fund was launched by the Ohio Dept. of Development
on December 15, 2011 to provide low-cost financing to manufacturers, small businesses, public entities, and nonprofit organizations for energy-saving projects. Using more than $7 million in state funds administered by ODOD's Office of Energy the loan fund will invest in energy retrofits and onsite distributed generation projects that allow customers to manage their energy costs.
