The program will feature GEO's 2006-2007 Program Report, and Annual Recognition Awards, as we congratulate outstanding individuals, businesses, and others working to further sustainable energy projects and practices in Ohio. Annual Meeting attendees will receive the commemorative 2006-2007 GEO Annual Report / Annual Meeting Program full color publication.

2007 GEO Annual Recognition Award Winners

Clean Community of the Year
City of Oberlin and Oberlin College for many clean energy community and college programs, including the Adam Lewis Center, 100 kW PV parking pavilion, campus resource monitoring, and wind monitoring facility.

Nonprofit of the Year
Entrepreneurs for Sustainability for partnering with GEO on educational events held with the "Solar Challenge," and bringing together a diverse group on sustainability issues.

Public Official of the Year
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur for delivering funding to her Northwest Ohio district to develop renewable energy resources at several locations, including Bowling Green State University (Firelands) and Camp Perry. [CLICK HERE]

Business of the Year
Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland for helping GEO secure the bid for SOLAR 2007, providing financial support for the conference social event to be held at the Rock Hall, support for the GEO booth at the Denver SOLAR 2006 conference, and initiating a program in Cleveland to "green" the Hospitality Industry by encouraging hotels to make changes to processes, products, and service to be more sustainable.

Pioneer of the Year
City of Cleveland Sustainability Program, creating the sustainability manager?s position in the Water Department for at least a 2-year commitment, supported initially by the Cleveland & Gund Foundation. Andrew Watterson?s superb work in that role has saved the City at least $0.5 million dollars in energy savings. Now, Andrew is a permanent employee and expanding it into a 5-7 person office.

Volunteer of the Year
Jerry Leard and Ruth Vandersall. Jerry volunteers many hours in the GEO Columbus office and at GEO events throughout the year. Ruth is active in the Wayne County GEO group and participates in many outreach events throughout the year.

Lifetime Achievement
Fletcher Miller for continuing work with GEO as a founding member, with more than 10 years of service with the Board of Directors, wind energy program and more.

Service Award
Michelle Greenfield for her dedicated service as President of the Green Energy Ohio Board of Directors.

Northeast Ohio Science and Engineering Fair - Green Energy Ohio Special Award for Best Renewable Energy Project
