Now for the good news! Those of us that are concerned about climate change, and dedicated to speeding the transition to clean, plentiful, renewable energy are well aware of the challenges, and the political headwinds, we face today. In the face of what often seems to be a constant stream of bad news Bill McKibben offers a vision of a better future that is just around the corner. The remarkable progress in solar power, batteries, and other forms of green energy are winning the battle for the future. They are winning, not because of politics, but because they are cheaper, cleaner, and more efficient. This transition is unstoppable, despite the efforts by powerful interests to use their political power to squeeze the last few years of profits from outdated 19th and 20th Century sources of energy.
Solar power, batteries, and the other exciting forms of renewable energy will make us richer, healthier and will protect our national security. The only catch is that we have to win faster to avoid the worst effects of climate change. That is where we come in, and getting inspiration from Bill McKibben is a good place to start!

Bill McKibben is the author of The End of Nature, Deep Economy, and numerous other books. He is the founder of the environmental organizations Step It Up and 350.org, and was among the first to warn of the dangers of global warming. He is a scholar in residence at Middlebury College and lives in Vermont with his wife, the writer Sue Halpern, and their daughter.
